Pivot Window

Pivot Window

Pivot Windows are also known as “Openers” and were prevalent in European architecture. Designed chiefly for spaces without a balcony, Pivot windows are a type of window with sashes that can rotate 90°-180° around a horizontal or vertical axis. The pivot is usually located on or near the center of the frame sash revolves within a window frame, and allows a wider opening than is common with other window types. To ensure the pivot doesn’t give out under the strain of the glass, modern pivot window hinges add a friction device to enable them to carry the full weight of the window and limit how far the window can be opened as well as permitting the window to be ‘secured’ in its turned position.

Features:

  1. Simplistic Mechanism Of Push & Pull

Pivot windows have a handle at the top of the window that you can pull down on to release the clamp and open the window. You then push the window shut and the handle will click into place, locking the window.

  1. Use Large Dimensions Freely

The biggest feature of pivot windows is being able to use large dimensions with just one window.  This design works well in rooms with a low ceiling as you can access the handle easily. It is similar to a hook that attaches itself to the frame of the window.

  1. Access Both Interior & Exterior Sides

Another important feature is being able to clean the external part of the window when access from the outside is impossible. No extra efforts for exterior window washing are required. It’s also easier to position them at a certain angle.

  1. Higher Security Levels

These windows forbid the option of locking them from outside and rely on the traditional deadbolt style lock inside, which provides an additional layer of safety, especially for those with children or pets. Since the mechanism locks in place and the only way to open the window again is from the inside of your home making it far more difficult to break the lock or glass and enter through the space.

  1. Easy OF Maintenance

Pivot windows are well known for having very few maintenance issues so they are typically quite durable.

  1. Great Ventilation

Pivot windows work well in interiors where fast and frequent ventilation is required. Their design causes used air to escape overhead, and fresh air to flow in from below. Thus, you can quickly get rid of moisture as well as unwanted odors. As an opened pivot casement essentially divides the window into two distinct areas, airflow can naturally enter on one side and exit on another.

  1. All Season Protection

They provide weather protection in all seasons. To be precise, because they pivot, it is possible to let in ventilation into an area without letting the rain and snow in as well.

Long common in attics and roof windows, pivot windows are enjoying a renaissance feel among modern homeowners. The pivot window style, which has square, rectangular and circular forms can offer great comfort, refreshment and width in your interior space. You can get these windows in a vast range of designs – from ultra-modern to a cosier, the cottage feels, which allow you to choose a design that matches your building structure. The minimalist and eye-catching profile of these windows define the entire space around them. This window system is best installed in the kitchens, hallways, corridors and lofts of residences. Also, these are the preferred style of windows with no balconies.
